The United States has always been an immigrant nation, and for the better part of its history (until the 20th century), that immigration was largely European. For this photoseries, Naomi Harris traveled to a lot of American-themed amusement festivals in Europe. A lot. Then she did the same for European-themed festivals in America. By capturing these "living embodiments" of the transatlantic ties that bind European and American culture together, Harris shows the intermingling and fluidity of tradition, cultural identity and collective memory.
